The Reformed Church of Highland Park (RCHP) has made a commitment to pursue GreenFaith’s Water Shield, “an environmental merit badge.” Earning the Water Shield means that a faith-based institution has taken steps to conserve water, protect water quality, and mobilize its members and neighbors to take similar steps in their own households or groups. Sixteen-year-old Amita Shukla, with an interest and talent in both art and engineering, is going to represent Highland Park in the 2015 session of the New Jersey Governor’s School of Engineering and Technology, where she will collaborate with other high school students on an original research project to present at the end of the program.
