One incumbent and four newcomers file to run for three school board seats

Five residents are making a bid for three open seats on the Highland Park Board of Education, as of the July 27 filing deadline for candidate petitions, as reported by the office of the Middlesex County Clerk.

Incumbent Claire Berkowitz, Ruth Beyer, Michael Greenberg, Robert Magaziner and Sharice Richardson have filed candidate petitions to appear on the Nov. 3 General Election ballot. They seek three seats currently held by Ms. Berkowitz, Board President Adam Sherman, and Catherine Bull. Mr. Sherman announced publicly on his Facebook page this week that he would not seek reelection after serving on the board for eight years.

The County Clerk’s office picks names randomly to determine ballot positions.

Please stay tuned for updates, additional coverage and candidate profiles.

  1. I look forward to listening to the citizens of Highland Park about how they feel the schools are being run and their suggestions to make our schools #1 in New Jersey.
