Clip Arts in the Park: American Repertory Ballet gears up for its “Dream” Gala

American Repertory Ballet (ARB), New Jersey’s preeminent professional ballet company, invites its Highland Park fans to take the leap cross the bridge on March 21 to attend its New Brunswick-based Gala. The benefit will feature a moving one-hour performance by ARB’s professional dancers working alongside of students of the Princeton Ballet School, the official school of the American Repertory Ballet.

Last week, Princeton Ballet School Director Mary Pat Robertson came to the school’s New Brunswick studios at 7 Livingston Avenue to teach students choreography which they will perform in American Repertory Ballet’s 30th Annual Gala – The Dream – on March 21 at 6 p.m at Crossroads Theatre. After the student/professional dance exhibition, the celebration at 7 p.m. will move across the street to the Heldrich Hotel, where there will be dinner, dancing, auctions, and more.

In preparation for the gala, Mary Pat has choreographed a dance for the students in DANCE POWER program. This dance will be rehearsed, going forward, by their teachers, Kathleen Smith Lombardo and Edward Urwin. On January 21, Mary Pat began the rehearsal period by observing the dancers in their regular, weekly dance class, and then presenting them with their new choreography (as seen in the accompanying picture, taken by teacher Edward Urwin).
