Dozens of residents filled the Middle School Monday night as the Highland Park Board of Education welcomed three new members and reorganized to elect new leadership.
Following the swearing-in of three new members, Anne Gowen, Robert Roslewicz, and Michelle McFadden-DiNicola, the board voted 5-4 to elect veteran member Adam Sherman as its new president and Anne Sherber as vice president. Mr. Sherman and Ms. Sherber joined members Jerri Aversa, Catherine Bull and Claire Berkowitz to vote in the majority on each nomination. Ms. Gowen, Mr. Roslewicz, and Ms. McFadden-DiNicola joined member Darcie Cimarusti in the minority.
The nomination process signaled a rift on the board, with Cimarusti nominated by the minority members for both president and vice president.
