The Highland Park School community on Monday, Sept. 21, 2015 said an official farewell to Acting Superintendent Israel Soto with statements representing a gamut of emotions: humor, sadness, wisdom, respect – infused with a deep love. The initial information from the State Police indicated a closed funeral, but apparently that only applied to the media. Raspa of Highland Park, N.J., died Saturday, May 30, 2015, at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold, N.J. He was 24 years old. The Municipal Volunteer of the Year Award went to Rabbi Eliezer Kaminetzky, who has served as the Borough’s chaplain for more than 20 years. Richard Ira Hersh of Old Bridge, New Jersey, passed away on January 6, 2015 at the age of 70. Born in Newark NJ on April 3, 1944, he graduated from Verona (NJ) High School and Rutgers University with a BA and MA.
