Funeral and vistation scheduled for State Trooper Anthony Raspa – open to the public

Update: The Raspa family would like the funeral on Thursday, June 4 to be open to the public. The initial information from the State Police indicated a closed funeral, but apparently that only applied to the media. The Planet just confirmed this information with the most recent State Police update. Visitation is on June 3, Wednesday, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Law enforcement agencies are welcome to send members to join funeral detail. Official Obituary appears in “Milestones.” READ MORE

Raspa of Highland Park, N.J., died Saturday, May 30, 2015, at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold, N.J. He was 24 years old. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at St. Matthias Church, 170 JFK Boulevard, Somerset, N.J. 08873. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Every day is the right day to honor the community’s volunteers

The Municipal Volunteer of the Year Award went to Rabbi Eliezer Kaminetzky, who has served as the Borough’s chaplain for more than 20 years. Richard I. Hersh – New Jersey native, RU alumnus, trade association executive

Richard Ira Hersh of Old Bridge, New Jersey, passed away on January 6, 2015 at the age of 70. Born in Newark NJ on April 3, 1944, he graduated from Verona (NJ) High School and Rutgers University with a BA and MA. He then pursued a career as a national and international trade association executive and government affairs consultant, based in Princeton, NJ, Washington DC and Paris, France. READ MORE
