Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics
A basic step we take to adhere to this policy is to separate the editorial and business functions of the Planet. The publisher is not telling the editor and reporters what to say, and is actively working to shield them from business considerations in their news reporting. As a small town paper, we recognize some latitude must be granted in some circumstances. For example, you will never see a bad review of a school play. However, in pursuit of hard news stories we will follow the facts wherever they lead and pledge to report them accurately and in context to help our readers develop nuanced and informed opinions.
