“Parkstock is a natural for Highland Park,” said Gayle Brill Mittler, Mayor of Highland Park. “We have a well-earned reputation as an ‘artsy’ town, with colorful murals lining the sides of several downtown buildings, an active local arts commission, and frequent outdoor art exhibits and events. Highland Park is also is home to Pino’s, a popular watering hole that regularly holds live musical performances by a wide range of artists, Speak Music – a well-regarded music school, and Porchfest, an annual one-day small-venues musical series in the spring in nearly a dozen locations around town. Parkstock will cement our town’s luster as the musical scene to be seen and heard in the area.”

“While we’ve known this for quite some time, Highland Park has emerged as Central Jersey’s premier local music scene. The bands performing at Parkstock reflect that identity, said Borough Councilmember Matthew Hersh, who chairs the Council’s Arts and Recreation Committee . “When you talk about community building, when you talk about showcasing local talent, when you talk about creating a buzz for your Borough, few things can rival the shared joy of experiencing live music together. I know this event will attract local and regional audiences alike!”

The Borough has partnered with local musicians Sheila Shukla and Gary Kaplan for the inaugural Parkstock launch.
