Main Street HP is alive this summer with activities to suit every taste

It is like a mid-summer’s day’s and night’s dream come true for Highland Park residents and merchants, as Main Street Highland Park dives into activities to boost foot traffic in the downtown and maintain the viability of the town’s valued community asset. The events over the next several weeks are the following:

—FRIDAY, July 28: Main Street Highland Park – with sponsorship support from St Peter’s Healhcare System – is throwing a tomato party (rain or shine) at the Highland Park Farmers Market to celebrate the Jersey tomato! In addition to all our usual wonderful Farmers Market vendors, the festival will feature:

  • Live music
  • Tomato samples
  • Tomato-themed food demos
  • Extended market hours till 7pm
  • A small punk rock flea market
  • Sustainable Highland Park’s plastic bag reduction campaign launch
  • A raffle prize drawing at 4pm. Here’s how the raffle will work:

If you spend $5 or more at the Farmers Market, you will be entered to win a big raffle prize

 

Drawing will be at 4pm on Friday 7/28 at the Tomato Fest.

The prize will include a Farmers Market canvas tote bag, treats from the Farmers Market vendors, and goodies from downtown Highland Park merchants

—SATURDAY July 29: “Do the Right Thing” in the Highland Park Outdoor Movie Theater

 

Don’t miss Saturday’s free showing of the Spike Lee classic, “Do the Right Thing” in downtown Highland Park! As always, there are about 30 minutes of kid-friendly cartoons at dusk, before the main feature begins at 9pm. Get some takeout from any one of Highland Park’s terrific restaurants, and enjoy free outdoor movies under the stars. In the event of rain, the movie will be postponed till the following Saturday. —SUNDAY, September 24: The 12th Annual Arts in the Park – a festival that is renowned statewide. Main Street Highland Park is issuing a call for artists, vendors and sponsors for this juried art show, and arts and crafts sale in downtown Highland Park, New Jersey on Sunday September 24, 2017 from 11:30 am – 4:30 pm.

 

The annual celebration of the arts draws thousands of art enthusiasts and visitors from around the region to stroll through downtown Highland Park and enjoy artistic offerings, live music and other entertainment, food from local restaurants, children’s activities, promotional booths, and much more.
