School superintendent and board urge community input to strategic plan

The Highland Park School District is on a Pathway to Excellence. But in order to get to excellence, the residents of the community have to pave the pathway with their opinions.

Superintendent of Schools Scott Taylor and the Highland Park School Board are asking every resident to participate in the Pathway to Excellence Strategic Planning Process. All they have to do is take five minutes to complete an online or on-paper survey, available: on the district website www.hpschools.net; on the special Pathway to Excellence website www.pathway.hpschools.net ; in hard copy throughout the town (senior center, borough hall, library, and the schools). The survey is available in both English and Spanish. The timeframe for completing the survey is from May 16 through May 30, 2016.

“This is the first time in many years that the entire community will be able to have real say in the direction of the district. We are dedicated to making this strategic planning process really responsive to the hopes, dreams and concerns of the residents,” said Dr. Taylor.

In addition, everyone is urged to attend strategic planning sessions on June 28 and June 29, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Middle School Cafeteria to review the results of the survey and to offer further input. “At these meetings, we want to come up with actionable initiatives to implement over the next three years. But to make the process meaningful, we need to hear your voices,” Dr. Taylor said.

July 13, 2016 is the target date for presenting the final report to the Highland Park School Board.
