HP Middle School and Yeshiva basketball teams score with community event

To the Editor:

One way to celebrate diversity and show support for one another in Highland Park is to participate in local events that promote and enhance a sense of community. One such community-building event will take place at the Highland Park Middle School Gym, at 330 Wayne Street, on Tuesday, March 1, 2016.

The boys’ and girls’ basketball teams from the Highland Park Middle School and the Rabbi Pesach Raymon Yeshiva will play exhibition games, with the girls’ teams game beginning at 6 p.m. and the boys’ teams at 7:30 p.m.

Attending these basketball games between our public school and non-public school students will show support for the children of our community and their schools’ athletic programs.

Suggested donations that will be shared 50/50 by the schools’ athletic programs are $2 for students and $3 for adults.

There will also be an opportunity to donate to the HP Community Food Pantry, for which the following items will be collected at the entrance to the gym to help nourish the over 300 families it serves: cereal, powdered milk, peanut butter, pasta, or the following canned items: fruit, fish, meat, soup, and vegetables.

I urge all HP residents to attend this community-building event.

Sincerely,

Josh Fine, Council member

Borough of Highland Park
