NJ's Bring Your Own Bag Law

Highland Park joins the NJ Department of Environmental Protection in reminding residents about NJ’s new Bring Your Own Bag law, which took effect on May 4, 2022. May the Fourth be with you and always remind you to never leave home without your colorful and varied reusable bags in our local stores

Main Street Highland Park's annual Downtown Planting Days are back for two more fun-filled days of downtown beautification!

-- Thursday May 25, 3 pm - 7 pm

-- Friday May 26, 11 am - 6 pm

Every May, Main Street Highland Park organizes and sponsors planting days along Raritan and Woodbridge Avenues where volunteers come out to fill over 150 downtown planters with beautiful plants and flowers supplied by Main Street.

Stop by the Main Street Highland Park offices (212 Raritan Ave) and look for staff *outside* on either day - only during the posted times - to pick up your plants, your planter assignment, and some snacks while supplies last!

Main Street Highland Park (MSHP) is a volunteer-based non-profit community development organization that manages the downtown Business Improvement District (BID) for the benefit of merchants, businesses, and residents of Highland Park. As a dedicated advocate for the downtown, MSHP's programs and projects improve the image of downtown Highland Park, focusing on its commercial assets, visual appeal, safety, and desirability as a destination for business, shopping, dining, fun, community, arts, and sustainability.

Borough Council takes action regarding Buck Woods

The Borough Council at its Tuesday Feb. 3 council meeting introduced an ordinance that would allow the municipal government to spend 1.86 million dollars (including 1.767 million dollars in bonds) to buy Buck Woods.

Redevelopment Agency develops its plans for moving Highland Park forward in 2015

The members of the Highland Park Redevelopment Agency at its Thursday, January 15, 2015 meeting, reorganized, elected officers, discussed amending the Highland Park Redevelopment Plan, and heard presentations from developers interested in pursuing mixed-use development in Highland Park's downtown area. Among the many development issues raised were a few significant themes: the attractiveness of the Highland Park community to developers; the dilemma of fiscal viability in a development landscape that features small development parcels; and the community’s need for not only mixed-use development, but also mixed-income development that would serve middle income population.
